The Oberwitte Family Tree
Here is some information I have collected on my Oberwitte line. My research is not free of errors. I have gathered information from many different places and individuals. The picture posted came from my grandmother's, Fern Lucas's, baby book. Pearl Oberwitte was her mother.
Descendants of John H Oberwitte
Generation No. 1
JOHN H OBERWITTE was born Abt. 1861 in Germany, and died Abt. 18 Nov 1924. He married ANNA M. SIEBERT, daughter of ADOLPH SIEBERT and MARGARET DAVENDACH. She was born 14 Nov 1857 in Germany, and died 24 Apr 1942 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.

- Notes taken from Fern Lucas: The Oberwitte family belonged to Lynwood Baptist Church. The church is located at 3101 Eastern Avenue in the East End.

Baltimore Pike Cemetery Information:
- Henry Oberwitte was buried on November 18, 1924, at the age 63.
- Marie Oberwitte was buried on April 27, 1942, at the age 84.
- Adolph Seibert was buried on April 4, 1910, at the age 85.
- Also buried on the same lot are the following:
-Veronica Oberwitte buried on June 17, 1908, age baby.
-Herman Oberwitte buried on March 5, 1899, no age listed.
-Fredrick Oberwitte buried on March 24, 1902, age 3.

Immigration/Arrival
- Henry and Mary/Marie Oberwitte arrived in the US on Oct. 7, 1882, aboard the ship Elbe. They married in Germany. They were on the same ship as her brother Henry John Siebert and his family as well as their sister, Elizabeth and her husband H. Westerfeld. Other Sieberts on the Elbe were Hermann, age 30, ( a possible brother), Minna, age 60, Minna, age 20, and Eleanor, age 58, wife.

- Adolph's full name was some combination of Clamor/Clements Adolph Henry/Heinrich Siebert. He was born November 21, 1824 in Germany and died April 1, 1910, Cincinnati, Hamilton Co., OH, at the home of his son-in-law Henry Oberwitte. His father may have been Clamor Siebert and his mother may have been Anna M. Burke. His wife may have been Margaret Davendach.

- William immigrated to the US in 1882.
- A funeral card for flowers said, "Sympathy of Mr. and Mrs. William Oberwitte, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Oberwitte, Mrs. Degerman. " Fern Oberwitte said Aunt Mayme married someone with the name Degerman.

- In the 1900 census she is listed. In 1910, Mary wasn't listed in the census.
- I have assumed this burial record: Anna Oberwitte buried on December 7, 1901, age 18 at Baltimore Pike Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
4. ANNA M OBERWITTE, b. Abt. 1887, Ohio; d. Aft. 1920; m. DEGERMAN.
Notes for ANNA M OBERWITTE:
- She was alive in 1920.
- We have many pictures of Aunt Mayme. Fern said she was Harry's sister.
- The person who is photographed with Pearl in a lot of pictures has children with her. Fern said she married a man who had four children and her last name was Degerman. I found a record of flowers sent to Elizabeth Boerse, Albert's wife. The card listed Mr. and Mrs. William Oberwitte, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Oberwitte, and Mrs. Degerman.
- Harry's sister Emma died around 1922. Emma is buried at Baltimore Pike Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio with the last name Oberwitte.

HARRY F OBERWITTE (JOHN H) was born 12 Mar 1892 in Ohio, and died 01 Jul 1961 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. He married (1) IDA. She was born Abt. 1894, and died Dec 1918. He married (2) PEARL M. BOERES, daughter of ALBERT BOERES and ELIZABETH GROSS. She was born 06 Jun 1899 in Ohio, and died 29 Sep 1979 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio.

- The Boeres family belonged to 9th Street Baptist Church.
- Story told by Fern Lucas: Her and her grandmother Boeres would go to the theater for 15 or 20 cents. On the way, they would pass a dress boutique and admire the dresses in the window.

- Pearl resided on the East Side in Lynwood at 3642 Shattuc Ave.
- Describes Pearl as very generous, and said she would buy all Fern and Floyd's children clothes for school, Christmas, and Easter.
